COURSE OVERVIEW
The Post Graduate Diploma in Water Supply and Sanitation aims at equipping existing and aspir
ing WASH Sector personnel with interdisciplinary skills to appropriately respond to the current
water supply, sanitation and hygiene challenges with insights on leadership and effectiveness.
Learners get an opportunity to examine both theory and best practice principles, setting the pace
for transforming and strengthening the water sector, learning from experts in the field who have
made their mark in successfully driving change in the sector. The course covers among other sub
jects, planning and management, water and wastewater engineering, inclusive participatory im
plementation and sustainable development, health and epidemiology, monitoring and evaluation
in the context of Water, Sanitation & Hygiene.
PARTICIPANTS
The course draws participants from the development and humanitarian sectors particularly those who are into WASH and/or Livelihoods programming from government institutions, para-government institutions, private sector and civil societies.
METHOD OF DELIVERY
The Post-Graduate Diploma in Water Supply and Sanitation course is a modular hybrid course
involving distance learning, face to face learning and online lessons. The course is delivered over
18 months shared over three Semesters. In addition to the six in-depth modules, all participants
will do individual study projects in their third semester.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Normal Entry- Participants must be holders of a first degree to obtain a certificate accredited by
NUST or have working experience in the field of WASH with a national diploma or higher national
diploma in Environmental Health, Water and Waste Management or Civil engineering
Special/Mature Entry -applicants must have at least a national diploma or certificate in social sci
ence, engineering, education, applied sciences or natural sciences coupled with at least 3 years
of experience
